About Jay Bunker, D.C. near Berkeley

I've been delivering quality chiropractic care to the Berkeley and Albany area since 1993. I chose to locate in the Solano Avenue neighborhood because of the small town feel, the ease of parking, and the proximity to so many other great shops and businesses.

My approach is simple. I believe that health is among our most valuable assets. And while I generally meet people after their health is compromised, my commitment is two-fold:

1. Relief Care for Berkeley and Albany

When many people seek care in my Albany practice they have one goal: relief. So that’s where I start! During this initial stage of intensive care, I have several obligations:

  • Uncover the underlying cause of the health problem

  • Suggest a care plan to produce the fastest results possible

  • Offer ways patients can participate in their recovery

  • Explain the value of post-symptomatic wellness care

2. Wellness Care for Berkeley and Albany

I encourage my patients to achieve the highest levels of health they can. Through educational opportunities (like this website), I hope to communicate the value of ongoing chiropractic care. My desire is to see my practice members abandon the prevailing sickness care model of health (waiting for symptoms and then taking action), in favor of the emerging wellness model.

You’re in Charge

Regardless of your health goals, please understand that I see myself as a mere servant. You’re the boss! It’s your body, your health and your future. My job is to offer you the finest chiropractic care possible, and it’s up to you to decide how much of it you want.

My ideal patient values their quality of life and wants to take an active part in improving their health and well-being. My vision for the health of our community is that we we reserve drugs, surgery and other invasive procedures for later stages of treatment - after improving lifestyle factors such as diet and  posture, and utilizing vitalistic health care practices such as acupuncture and chiropractic. This would bring about an actual health care system, rather than the disease care approach we now have.  Not only would a system that emphasizes positive lifestyle and preventative care be much more economical, it would also be much more effective (compare life expectancy ranking for Japan with that of the U.S.). Chiropractic can be a valuable part of a wellness lifestyle that enhances your body's ability to function and thereby bringing about a higher quality of life. As one of my teachers said, "chiropractic care can add years to your life and life to your years".
